Biography Janet Hiebert's formative years were spent in the mid-western United States. Born Janet Hunt in Illinois, living briefly in Iowa and spending fourteen years in Kansas shaped her artistic vision and spiritual values. Her childhood art teacher, Sue Jean Covacevich (a Kansas regionalist painter) cultivated her love of natural subjects that has permeated her art from painting and drawing to ceramics and glass. The last twenty-five years have been devoted to exploring the complex and exciting possibilities of stained and kiln fired glass. Janet has spent her adult life in California, first attending CCAC in Oakland and later receiving a BA in Art from Cal State Hayward. Teaching glass art over the past twenty-five years in various Bay Area art centers has occupied much of Janet's time and interest. The enthusiasm of seeing others share her passion for glass is rewarding and inspirational. Janet's glass art is on display in local shops and galleries.
