EPOXY TOOLING
EXAMPLE:
The following
is a cast epoxy mold and molded part. This one is
a "hand mold", and was cast from a stereolithogaphy master. Hand molds take
less time to make and are less expensive than automated ones. They are not fastened
to the molding machine, so set up time is reduced.
The molded
part is removed by hand or with the aid of hand operated ejection pins.
The epoxy castings are the same consistency throughout so that they can be machined if
needed for changes or modifications. A mold of this type can
be automated by adding the required components including cooling or heating. The additional
components and their application is about the same as for an aluminum
or steel mold.
